What the environment protects against
Ultraviolet light fades paint and desorbs leather. Airborne dust settles into seams, threatening clear coats when cleared away. Pests pose a relentless risk in semi-open spaces, while atmospheric volatility, the constant cycling of temperature and humidity, stresses delicate seals and coaxes hidden condensation onto unexposed metal.
The collector wing addresses each of these through construction rather than as an afterthought, so your car is protected whether you visit it weekly or once a season.
Built for the purpose
The indoor wing is 4,000 square metres of tilt-slab construction with 11.5 metres of internal clear height and polished, sealed concrete floors. The roof and fascia are sealed against birds, natural light is filtered and supplemented by LED, and the air is actively filtered to limit dust.
Stable conditions help protect what is hardest to replace: nitrocellulose lacquers, delicate leather hides and vintage electrical looms.
Fire protection
The entire indoor wing is covered by a fully integrated automatic fire suppression system fed from a dedicated water reservoir. Activation is compartmentalised, isolated to the affected area so the rest of the collection is not drenched by a single event.

Are collector vehicles ever stored outdoors?
Never. Collector vehicles are always kept in the enclosed indoor wing. The open-air hardstand on campus serves trade logistics only.
How does the facility handle Brisbane’s light and dust?
The wing is fully enclosed with only filtered natural light and LED, the roof and fascia are sealed, and the air is filtered to limit dust. Each vehicle also wears a breathable tailored cover.
What fire protection is in place?
